Ninth-Grade Students' Perceptions Toward the use of Smart TV in Interactive Learning at MTs Unggulan Nurul Qur’an

The development of digital technology in the globalization era has driven the modernization of instructional tools in educational institutions, including the utilization of Smart TV as a central hub for interactive multimedia in the classroom. This study aims to exploratively analyze the perception of ninth-grade students toward the use of Smart TV in interactive learning at MTs Unggulan Nurul Qur’an, focusing on visual clarity, classroom engagement, and its impact on attention span. The research method employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data collection was carried out through semi-structured interviews with ninth-grade students, passive participant observations of cyber classroom dynamics, and curriculum documentation studies. Data analysis applied the interactive analysis model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, with validity testing through technique and source triangulation. The results indicate that students hold a highly positive perception toward the integration of Smart TV, as it is proven to provide high visual clarity and significantly enhance student engagement through two-way communication patterns. However, from a psychological perspective, students also perceive challenges regarding the risk of attention deficit due to the abundance of screen visual stimuli. Therefore, this study concludes that the successful adoption of smart screen instructional technology strictly requires a sustainable synergy between teachers' digital literacy skills in managing classroom scenarios and students' internal moral regulation to maintain academic discipline.
